Hello, my name is Niclaa Boes, born in 1969, and since 2012 I have been working with great joy as a chair massage therapist. I truly believe in my profession, and I see it as a valuable contribution in today’s hectic world—creating a win-win-win situation: your employees happy and energized, you happy with a healthier company, and me having a beautiful profession that contributes to a world that is becoming more balanced.
The people—your employees perhaps—who sit in my chair receive not only my massage, but also the compliment you intend for them. You and your company recognize that they are 100% worth it, that they deserve to be well cared for. You want to show them how important you find it that they feel good and fit, and you support them by offering this during working hours. In essence, you are giving them a gift—one that I get to hand over: a wonderful moment of relaxation, attention, and care.
With my background, I see chair massage primarily as preventive care. I am not a workplace physiotherapist.
Long ago, I had to end my medical studies after completing my degree due to illness. If I believe that someone truly needs medical treatment, I advise them to take action. This often leads to shorter treatments and helps prevent long-term absence due to illness. That seems like a clear win-win to me. And it allows me to focus on relaxation—something especially important in today’s world, where burnout and depression are the leading causes of absenteeism.
I choose to focus mainly on what is going well, because hope keeps us alive, and trust makes things possible.
After all, the vast majority of things do go well, and we can choose to be grateful for that—with the side effect of relaxation, which is also highly beneficial for the areas that need it most.
Our brain is naturally programmed to focus on what goes “wrong” or what may be dangerous. Very useful in the offline world of the past, but in today’s online world, the balance with rest, trust, and even the creativity that comes from simply daydreaming has been greatly disturbed.
This is where “rethinking” comes in. Because I have needed it so much myself, I have become very good at it. Everything has a reason—even if we are not aware of it. And everything can lead to something good.
So, a solid foundation with a clear vision.
One that I am also able to share non-verbally 😉
